National Geographic #Yourshot Photographers Can Now Download Their Data

Were you one of the photographers who got affected by the ending of the National Geographic Your Shot program?. I was one of them! I lost 10 years of my history as a photographer, as well as my awarded photographs and editor's favorites ones. A few years back, my computer's hard drive crashed and I lost the original photographs that had won publications in National Geographic's section "The Daily Dozen", so all I had was my National Geographic profile. In 2018, National Geographic removed everybody's profiles and moved this feature to Instagram (see my past post for more info).

I recently found out that you can now download all your data from the YourShot platform. All you have to do is:

REGULAR WAY

(IF YOU HAD SIGNED UP WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS)

  1. Login into your account

  2. You will see your name at the top right.

  3. Click on your name to pull the drop-down menu

  4. Go to "Account Settings"

  5. Scroll to the bottom

  6. At the bottom of the page, you will see a bright yellow button that is labeled as "Download My Data."

  1. Click Download

  2. A zipped file will download with all your photos.

  3. Another folder labeled "Data" will contain all your activity data such as awarded photos, favorite photos, subscribers, etc. This data is presented in an excel sheet (or equivalent). There are no images in this folder, just written information.

FACEBOOK LOGIN

(IF YOU HAD SIGNED UP WITH YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT)

  1. If you had created your account using Facebook, you will be asked to provide the email address you use with Facebook (note: if you created your National Geographic account using Facebook, you will not be able to change your email, just your password).

  1. Confirm your account from your email address. You will receive a link. Click on the link.

  2. You will be taken to National Geographic's website and be prompted to change your password.

  3. Change your password.

I hope this information is helpful. Feel free to ask me questions!
